Hill Continues T86RS Winning Form

Cameron Hill has continued his Toyota 86 Racing Series winning streak, emerging victorious in Race 7 of the series at the Red Rooster Sydney SuperSprint today.

Starting from pole position aboard the Southern Star Truck Centre/National Capital Toyota/Anytime Fitness 86, Hill lost a place to Aaron Seton off the line, but applied the pressure to Seton and recaptured the lead with a move into turn 1 at the start of the third lap.

Hill also recorded the fastest lap of the race – his fifth of the season.

Cameron says:

“We made a setup change overnight and it completely transformed the car – it was understeering yesterday, whereas today it tended towards oversteer.

“Importantly though, the car was fast and we had the track position to maximise our advantage.

“I muffed the start – let the clutch out too quickly – and lost a spot to Aaron.

“Into turn 1, I lined him up for a move and went down the inside and he raced very fairly, making sure we were able to race side-by-side through the corner without any contact.

“From there, we were able to maintain a consistent pace and pull away from the cars behind.

“We’re happy with the car so we’ll have a good night’s sleep and make sure we’re well rested for two more races tomorrow.”

Races 2 and 3 will be held tomorrow at 9:50am and 12:10pm.
