Cameron Hill is upbeat after a productive day of practice at Mount Panorama for the Hi-Tec Oils Bathurst 6 Hour.

Hill, sharing the Horsley Park Gun Shop Subaru WRX with James Abela, said the team achieved their main objectives for the day.

“In the first session, we focused on obtaining our fuel numbers and understanding our fuel range for the race,” Hill said.

“In the second session, James and I both did longer runs because we wanted to understand how the car behaved on a full tank of fuel.

“It handled well, it was really nicely balanced and we were both giving similar feedback on what we wanted.

“I think we can extract a bit more out of it for qualifying but having a comfortable race car was our main objective for the day.”

Hill and Abela ended the day 19th overall but Hill said there is plenty more pace to be found.

“Today’s practice times are difficult to assess because everyone was running different programs. I think qualifying tomorrow will give us a more accurate indication of where everyone is at,” Hill concluded.

A final practice session will be held at 7:40 tomorrow morning, followed by qualifying at 12:50.
