A six-position gain on the opening lap set the scene for a storming drive by Cameron Hill in Race 2 of the Porsche Wilson Security Carrera Cup at the Adelaide 500 today.

Starting 16th on the grid, Hill elevated the Southern Star Truck Centre/Anytime Fitness Porsche to 10th on the first lap thanks to a blinder start and some sharp overtaking moves, before gaining two more places in the remaining laps to take the chequered flag in eighth position.

“Unlike yesterday, I was in the right place at the right time today,” Hill said.

“I made up a couple of places off the line, and throughout the rest of the lap there were other opportunities to overtake cars.

“Once I found myself with clear track, I was reasonably happy with my pace – I was matching my qualifying times on a hotter track, and with older tyres.

“We’re still a little way off the front-running cars, but at least our times are getting closer to theirs.

“For the final race tomorrow, I’ll be aiming to tag along with the main contenders and keep learning how to maximise the car’s performance,” Hill concluded

The third and final Carrera Cup race will be held at 9:05 tomorrow morning.
