New Track Challenges

Cameron Hill says the brand-new Bend Motorsport Park has a completely different feel to any circuit he has ever raced at.

The Carrera Cup driver placed 14th in both today’s practice sessions for Round 6 of the Porsche Wilson Security Carrera Cup, the circuit’s unique characteristics prompting his CHE Racing Team to re-evaluate their approach to car setup.

“The track has lots of different types of corners, but the biggest thing is the track surface; it has an immense amount of grip, and it’s nothing like any other circuit we have here in Australia.

“In the first session, the car felt quite unstable and I wasn’t able to drive it with much confidence.

“We tweaked the setup for the second session and it was definitely an improvement – we were on used tyres so we weren’t able to extract the ultimate performance from it.”

“We have a clear direction on how to tune the car now, so we’ll make some more adjustments for qualifying tomorrow.”

Tomorrow’s Carrera Cup action consists of qualifying at 12:05pm (12:35pm eastern time) and Race 1 at 2:50pm (3:20pm local time).
