Hill Makes Toyota 86 Series Guest Appearance

He was recently announced as a member of Triple Eight Super2 squad for 2022 and he currently leads the Porsche Carrera Cup Australia standings, but this weekend Cameron Hill is returning to a category that was instrumental in the formative years of his career – the Toyota Gazoo Racing Australia 86 Series.

Hill competed in the competitive one-make series in 2016 and’17, winning more races than any other driver. This weekend, he will compete as an official Toyota guest driver, in an 86 race car prepared by Neal Bates Motorsport.

The Canberra racer is looking forward to taking on a mentoring role in the category.

“The objective is to mentor the other competitors, assist them with driving technique and help them to learn and improve,” Hill said.

“I’m aiming to be competitive but there’s no pressure for me to win races.

“There are some very talented young drivers in the field and I’m expecting the races to be super-competitive. It should be a lot of fun and it’s a good platform to get my brain back in race mode before the next Carrera Cup round at Bathurst in a couple of weeks.”

Hill was seventh and eighth in today’s two practice sessions, with qualifying and the opening race to be held tomorrow ahead of races two and three on Sunday.
