Cameron Hill has paid tribute to his mother after winning two tense Carrera Cup races today to complete his perfect weekend at the OTR Bend SuperSprint.

Hill was forced to withstand intense pressure from rival, Harri Jones, who relentlessly applied the pressure throughout both races.

“Today’s races were really hard,” Hill said.

“In race two, our tyre pressures weren’t quite right and came under some heavy fire from Harri – I couldn’t afford a single slip-up, or he would have been straight past.

“The car was awesome in race three, but Harri still kept me honest and was close enough to have a sniff in the last few laps.

“It was an amazing weekend for the whole team, they didn’t miss a beat. It’s awesome that our hard work is paying off.

Hill was pleased to give his mum, Helen Hill, the ultimate Mother’s Day present.

“I think the best Mother’s Day present mum received was a straight car!” Hill said.

“I think she’s just happy that I’m home safe, and the wins were a bonus. But mum has contributed an enormous amount to my career and to our efforts as a family team – she’s an amazing woman who juggles a lot of responsibilities to make sure our racing program is successful.”

Hill is currently experiencing a purple patch, having won six of the last seven races in the competitive one-make Porsche category, dating back to last year’s Australian Grand Prix. He has also become the sixth driver in Carrera Cup history to achieve three consecutive round wins, joining Jim Richards, Alex Davison, Craig Baird, Nick Foster and Jaxon Evans in the illustrious club.

This weekend’s maximum score has seen Hill open up a sizeable lead in the series standings, but he said there is no time to be complacent.

“I think we’ll celebrate the round win with a nice Mother’s Day dinner, but then we’ll be straight back to work,” Hill said.

“We have a couple of months before our next Carrera Cup round, but in the meantime, we’re very busy with our Formula Ford program and we want to maintain our run of success with Tom Sargent and Noah Sands in that category as well,” Hill concluded.
