Cameron Hill is glowing with confidence after a positive, if frustrating round of the Repco Supercars Championship at the Albert Park street track.

After some frustrations in maximising the potential of his #35 Truck Assist Racing Chevrolet Camaro in qualifying, Hill was able to move forward in the first three sprint races of the weekend, underlining his race pace.

The only blot on his copybook came in Sunday’s fourth and final race where he tried an overtaking move on a rival at Turn 11 on the final lap, finishing the race in the gravel trap.

Regardless, Hill is positive with the progress that he has made in his debut season in the Supercars Championship.

Despite the lack of qualifying pace, Hill raced and passed many seasoned campaigners during his rise through the pack during what were, at times, chaotic races.

The results see Hill sit 23rd in the championship, but the tight nature of the points means that he is just a handful of points outside of the top 20 and within striking distance of being the top placed Supercars rookie.

The next round of the Repco Supercars Championship takes Hill to Wanneroo Raceway on April 28-30.

Hill's next engagement, though, will be at the Hi-Tec Oils Bathurst 6 Hour this coming weekend. The winner of last year's 6 Hour will take on a different role at Mount Panorama, acting as the crew chief for the Cameron Crick and Dean Campbell Mitsubishi Evo entry.

“Another fun weekend for me, learning lots all the time,” said Hill.
“Struggled for qualifying speed this weekend which meant we were buried in the pack, but our race place was good. We moved forward in the first three races before the last race. We had a slow pit stop and then I went for a move on the last lap and couldn’t quite pull it off.
“You have to learn and you need to figure out what you can and can’t get away with.
“I’m really happy with the weekend, racing against guys who have been doing this for a long time and it was cool to be able to go door to door with them.”
