Cameron Hill completes successful Rookie Test at Queensland Raceway

Repco Supercars Championship rookie Cameron Hill has completed his second rookie test at Queensland Raceway prior to next weekend’s NTI Townsville 500.

Hill completed the second of his three allocated rookie test day, which not only gave him valuable miles and driver fitness ahead of Townsville, but the Matt Stone Racing crew to practice refuelling stops as this component makes its return up north.

With the Supercars competition so close now – particularly in qualifying – Hill is eager to build on an impressive maiden season in Australia’s top flight after displaying top 10 pace throughout 2023.

Building up experience is key for rookies and Hill will gain confidence heading to the Reid Park street circuit complex having raced there in the Gazoo Racing Australia Toyota 86 Series, Porsche Carrera Cup Australia and in Super2 last year.

Hill’s team Truck Assist Racing won last time out at Darwin marking its first victory in the top-tier of Australian motorsport and will aim to continue this solid momentum into Townsville.

The next round of the Repco Supercars Championship is the NTI Townsville 500 on July 7-9.

“It was a great day,” said Hill.

We got through a lot of our program, which was really encouraging and we had the whole pit crew here doing some pit stop practice as well, so I think it’s a really good preparation for the team before we head to Townsville.

“We’ve got to get back into the swing of the refuelling format and those types of pit stops, so it was definitely very valuable for the crew as well. All in all, I’m just happy to have gotten so much seat time.

“I feel in the rhythm by having this day, so it may take one or two less laps to find my feet up in Townsville.”
