Cameron Hill completes successful rookie test at The Bend

Truck Assist Racing’s Cameron Hill has completed a successful rookie test at The Bend Motorsport Park in South Australia ahead of the Repco Supercars Championship round at the venue in little more than a fortnight’s time.

The test comes at the end of a busy week for Hill as a ride day followed the previous round of the championship at Sydney Motorsport Park on Monday.

The test provided a crucial opportunity to build up his seat time coming up to the endurance events.

Hill enjoyed strong qualifying results at Sydney Motorsport Park and was well placed in each race before bad luck intervened in both events.

Building at each round this year, Hill hopes the extra opportunity to experience The Bend Motorsport Park will provide a slight advantage ahead of the event.

The next round of the Repco Supercars Championship is the OTR SuperSprint at The Bend on August 18-20.

“We’re still learning these cars,” said Hill.

“The more time we get to play with them the more we can fine tune them, so it was all about trying some more ideas. We were happy with the car and it was in a good window so from there it was about making the finer adjustments which should hopefully give us a bit of a head start when we roll out for the race meeting at Tailem Bend.

“It was great to get down here and test at a track that we normally don't; a different track surface, obviously different style of corners.

“To be racing here in a few weeks time, it’s a super well-timed test day. Hopefully it’s going to give us a leg up.”
