Executing the ‘fine details’ the focus for Hill at season finale

Cameron Hill will be hoping to bounce back from a quiet Gold Coast 500 to finish the 2024 Repco Supercars Championship season on a high.

Hill entered the penultimate round of the season on a rich run of form, having secured back-to-back top 10 finishes in both endurance events before facing a challenging run in Queensland.

With the ever-popular VAILO Adelaide 500 looming large, Hill is now relishing the opportunity to regain the momentum from the second half of his season.

The Matt Stone Racing driver has every chance to wrestle his way into the outright top 10 on the standings, as he sits just 107 points off 10th place, and although his final position is not the priority for him, a positive run in Adelaide will set the foundation for a big 2025.

A favourite amongst fans and drivers, the VAILO Adelaide 500 runs over four days and will see the stars of Supercars take part in practice sessions on Thursday and Friday before completing Qualifying, Top 10 Shootouts and 250km races on both Saturday and Sunday.

The VAILO Adelaide 500 wraps up the 2024 Repco Supercars Championship season and takes place in Victoria Park on November 14-18.

“I love the Adelaide event - it’s a great city with a great festival vibe, there is a lot of history to it and everyone gets around it. It’s definitely one of the top five events on the calendar,” said Hill.

“We want to go to Adelaide and have a personal best weekend. My main goal is to execute our plan from start to finish and be consistent.

“Paul (Forgie) and I have been talking a lot ahead of the weekend and feel well prepared. It’s important to go over all the fine details when the field is so close. If we can execute the whole week cleanly then a good result is in reach. The race car has been great, but we can make gains in Qualifying. It’s hard to rehearse, the short sessions, managing traffic, tyre phasing, it’s very unique.

“Obviously on the Gold Coast, we didn’t get the best results we wanted. I made a mistake on the Saturday and we had some pit stop dramas on Sunday, but the confidence is still there. We know where we had areas to improve and we will use it to our advantage.

“There is no point wasting energy on the points at this point; breaking into the top 10 is achievable but you need a lot of things to fall in place and I am just focused on my performance in Adelaide.

“We still have momentum with us for how our year has gone, and we will go into Adelaide with the goal of finishing the season on a high.”
