Cameron Hill and Matt Stone Racing put on a show for Canberra Supercars fans over the last week as the team took the Tyrepower Racing car on tour in the Australian capital.
A huge week of appearances in Hill’s hometown concluded with the Canberra Festival of Speed on Saturday and Sunday, which drew massive crowds for its inaugural running.
The Canberran driver wowed the local fans with demonstration runs in his #4 Chevrolet Camaro, which arrived in Canberra straight from the season-opening Bathurst 500.
It marked the first time in two decades that a current Supercars Championship car has been unleashed in Canberra, with 20 years since the last Supercars race in ACT.
Earlier in the week, it all started with a visit to Melba Copland College with Higgins Property Group to talk to the students in the F1 Schools Program and the Potentia Racing team.
On Wednesday, MSR took the Supercar to Canberra Airport for a BBQ with staff, giving them an opportunity to get up close with the race car.
That was followed by a full day of filming at Canberra Airport on Thursday, with an exciting project set to launch Australian Grand Prix week.
Hill then took his Supercar on closed public roads around the picturesque National Arboretum to help launch the Canberra Festival of Speed.
On Friday, the team joined major partner, Supaglass Industries, for a function at their Beard headquarters.
Then on Saturday morning, locals had another opportunity to meet Cam, with the Supercar on show inside Majura Park Shopping Centre for an autograph session.
Hill said he was stoked to have the car in his hometown and to give Canberrans a taste of Gen3 Supercars machinery.
The #4 Supercar will now head back to the Matt Stone Racing headquarters on the Gold Coast to prepare for Round 2 in Melbourne.

“Huge media tour this week for us in the #4 Tyrepower Racing Chevrolet Camaro,” said Hill.
“We came straight from Bathurst — the car was a little bit battered and bruised after Sunday but the guys polished it up. It was an awesome week, we were able to do some cool activations with Canberra Airport, Supaglass Industries, Canberra Festival of Speed, and more.
“It’s just been fantastic to be able to catch up with so many of our local sponsors and fans. Not often we get an actual Supercar here, so hopefully we’ll get the opportunity to do it again in the future.
“I think some people this week may not have actually seen a Gen3 Supercar in the flesh before, so to give them that opportunity is really cool. To see the smiles on so many little and big kids’ faces has been great. I’m glad we were able to put this Canberra tour together.
