Cameron Hill leads the Porsche Paynter Dixon Carrera Cup series after an impressive display during the opening round at Sandown last month, and is feeling confident heading into this weekend's second round of the series at The Bend Motorsport Park.

Hill raced his #111 CHE Racing machine to two victories and a second place in the season opener, which was affected by wild wet weather conditions across Sunday.

In the long seven-week break between rounds, Hill has kept busy, picking up a class win in the Bathurst 6 Hour as the team manager for the Tom Sargent/Lachlan Mineeff entry.

The team recently took part in a test day at The Bend, in preparation for the upcoming round.

“We tested at The Bend last week and it was a productive day, we had good pace and we made some positive setup changes. It’s a very different circuit to Sandown – the surface is smoother and there is a much greater variety of corners. Overall, it’s faster and more flowing,” said Hill.

In 2019 when the series last visited the circuit, Hill qualified third and finished second in race one of the weekend.

“When we last raced at The Bend in 2019, we had a fast car, so that gives us confidence heading into this weekend. However, the track conditions can change very rapidly, so we’ll have to be on our toes to adapt our car setup accordingly,” he said.

“It’s nice to be leading the series after Sandown, but it doesn’t affect my thought process for this round. It’s a long season and it’s way too early to be thinking about the championship,” concluded Hill.

Round two of the Porsche Paynter Dixon Carrera Cup Series takes place at The Bend Motorsport Park from May 7-9 as part of the OTR SuperSprint, with the sessions shown live on FOX Sports 506 and Kayo Sports.
