The co-driver for Cameron Hill’s Sandown and Bathurst endurance races has been locked in.
Jaylyn Robotham will join Hill in the #35 Truck Assist Racing Chevrolet Racing Camaro ZL1 for the twin two-driver races, giving the entry a strong, youthful driver line-up.
Twenty-year-old Robotham recently cut laps in the #35 Camaro at Queensland Raceway last week when the Matt Stone Racing crew were present for a mid-season test day.
He has now been locked in to share with Hill for the enduros, having competed at last year’s 1000km Mount Panorama race in the Caltex wildcard entry.
This year, Robotham is competing regularly in the National Trans Am Series and Thailand Super Series’ Super Pickup category, having also made a Dunlop Super2 Series start in Newcastle.
“Really excited to be joining Cam and MSR in the #35 Truck Assist Camaro for the enduro rounds this season,” said Robotham.
“We had a decent test last week and it felt good with the team.
“Having worked with Paul Forgie before and also having done my first evaluation day with MSR a few years ago really made it a lot easier coming into the team.
“Can’t thank everyone enough that made this possible and also to everyone at MSR for this opportunity.”
Hill and Robotham gelled well together at last week’s test, with the announcement now cementing the young guns as a competitive pairing.
It comes off the back of a strong performance in Tasmania for Hill, who qualified in the top seven for all three races.
“I’m looking forward to sharing the car with Jaylyn come enduro season,” said Hill.
“He has a good head on his shoulders, the right attitude and he’s quick as well, so he ticks all the boxes for us.
“Last week when we had Jaylyn join us for the test day, he gelled really well with the team and did a good job on track.
“I’m definitely excited for the enduro season.”
Adding to the continuity, Car #35 race engineer Paul Forgie, has previously worked with Robotham in 2019 where he won the TA2 Asia Series title.
Team Owner, Matt Stone, believes Hill and Robotham will be a formidable combination.
“We are pleased to welcome Jaylyn into the MSR family as Car #35 co-driver,” said Stone.
“Already Jaylyn is immediately fitting in well with the team, and having worked with Car #35 race engineer Paul Forgie in the past, that has sped up the process.
“He did a good job in the Caltex wildcard last year in difficult conditions and has proven he can drive around Bathurst in a decent lap time with no mistakes over a six-hour race.
“Cam and Jaylyn are a good, young combination and Jaylyn will perform his role as a co-driver very well for Car #35.”
MSR now has its full endurance line-up confirmed, having announced the Jack Le Brocq and Jayden Ojeda pairing in Car #34 last month.
The Sandown 500 will run on from September 15-17, before the Repco Bathurst 1000 from October 5-8.
