Top 10 finish salvages challenging Symmons Plains affair

We’re all wrapped up at the Tasmania Super 440 and it was a tough weekend for the #4 Supaglass Chevrolet Camaro at Symmons Plains.

I always look forward to coming to Symmons Plains as it’s a track that has been good to me in the past and it’s a fun event overall, but unfortunately it was a bit crueler to me this year.

I think we had a fast car, which we proved by being in the top 10 for both practice sessions on Friday, however when it came to qualifying on Saturday morning, it was really tough.

As it’s so tight around here, you need to get your lap perfect, otherwise you can be buried in the field and unfortunately, that's what happened to me a few times.

Although Saturday proved a little challenging with our results overall and I didn’t nail my Qualifying laps on Sunday morning, thankfully we were able to get a good result in the event’s longer race.

Starting from P17, I managed to avoid the carnage ahead of me in the opening laps, which helped me make up a few places early on.

Overall, we had a really good race and got a top ten to finish the weekend on a high, while Nick’s second place on Saturday helped keep Matt Stone Racing’s run of podiums going, which is awesome for the team.

Most importantly, we’re still inside the top 10 and in the hunt for the championship – even if it is really close out there. We’ll continue to give our all to make the finals.

Hopefully we can have a good run at our next event in Perth, but until then, I'll go home to rest, recharge and work out how I can further improve!

As always, thanks for the support from all the Cam Hill fans, and I hope all the mums had a fantastic Mother's Day on Sunday!
