Cameron Hill holding head up despite tough Perth Sunday

So that’s our big visit to Perth done and dusted and it was an up and down weekend – especially with the dramas that we had on Sunday afternoon.

Our qualifying sessions on Saturday left us with some work to do in the races, 13th for Race 14 and 15th for Race 15, but we had good race pace and good pit stops from the boys at Matt Stone Racing. That helped us make up a number of positions during each race.

Getting ninth in Race 14 and 12th in Race 15 was awesome and helped us bank important points towards our fight to make it to the Supercars finals later this year.

On Sunday, we had a great start to the day by qualifying eighth and making it into the Top 10 shootout for the third time this year, which was really cool.

Having qualified eighth again in the Shootout, the day was looking good and we felt we were on for a big result, however when it came to our formation lap to get the race underway, the #4 Supaglass Chev Camaro didn’t start and we were forced to pit to resolve the issue.

We managed to get the car back out on track, and even though we were seven laps off the lead lap, we made up a couple of positions to finish 23rd as a result of DNFs to other cars. The result wasn’t entirely catastrophic since our closest rivals in the championship also had tough results.

So while we didn’t get the result we were hoping for on Sunday, we still keep our heads up. We just need to figure out what caused the issue on the Grid as it cranked fine, but just didn’t fire.
